James Lima, born in Sao Paulo, is a historian and journalist graduated from Catholic University (PUC) of São Paulo. He began his career in the music industry in the 90s at Continental East West (Warner Music), then moved to the label and distributor Eldorado, independent distributor Trama and founded the distributor Brazilmúsica! At Atração Recordings. While there, he managed more than 290 independent labels, expanding independent production of these two decades, always focusing on the diversity of the Brazilian music. In 2003, he created the Music News newsletter. The first daily bulletin of the Brazilian music market. Today, Music News has more than 20.000 music professionals registered from the entire Brazilian production value-chain, offering an open space in the formal music market for promotion and publishing of content produced by medium and small labels. In 2007, he founded the MN Agency, the first news agency specialized in music business. James Lima is in contact with the whole production chain of national music, working from the recording studio to the point of sale, with extensive experience in the private sector. He was consultant and coordinator of major music business events between 2006 and 2010, organizing seminars and round-tables of national and international businesses throughout Brazil, making room for dialogue and regional producers with medium and large companies, especially those in the digital area including majors and independent labels.
