Hi Richard, I assume your offer is free. We got a simple Demo (just guitar chords and vocals) about friendship in german. In the current situation I got the idea to arrange, produce and release it. Therefore a review may help to go the right way. The attachement won´t allow mp3. If interested please give me a mailaddress i may send the example to. regards bernhard

Hello, I have uploaded a new version of my song "Angeschebant Enteschebant". I updated the vocals. It is a german comedy song with a dance groove. Lend me your ear for three and a half minutes. Cheers Christoph

Hi Guys, Sorry for the ridiculously long wait on this. I was unaware that I was not receiving your messages which appears a little bug somewhere. So I'll review these one by one over the next few weeks in no particular order. I'll start with the one directly above which is by Inner Skin. A little confusing as they offer a Youtube link to the song 'Siren' and the attachment contains the song 'Brothers', so I am reviewing 'Brothers' as it has a video to it. The song is well put together and the arrangement and structure are both decent enough. The musicianship is of a high standard throughout and there are influences all over the place. It has a very east coast American sound and there are cross references to bands like Nickleback, Live, Smashing Pumpkins, Foo Fighters, Psychedelic Furs, The Mission, even Marillion and The Cure at different junctures! Lyrics are fine and the band who are Italian find the vocalist performing a good level of English phonetics on the track which is commendable. The production is very good although i felt an extra chorus toward the end would have been better than the elongated outro but the guys seem pretty professional to me and I believe have been signed up to a deal which is no surprise. What don't I like? Well the vocals finish at 2 minutes 42 seconds and the song lasts 4 minutes and 30 seconds. So yes plenty of room for that extra chorus that I mentioned above and the question is, is almost 2 minutes of instrumental necessary on a single at the conclusion of a song? I think not. On an album version fine but not as an unknown band on a single release. You are cutting off your nose to spite your face. What I don't like is the band name 'Inner Skin', it sounds almost vulgar. In addition the band have a new logo that really doesn't work for me as it appears like two spanners on top of each other. Finally as mentioned before the production, musicianship, structure and arrangement all tick the right boxes and as a song it is more than acceptable but it really doesn't have a decent enough hookline to have been released as a single. A good song but not a great song and therefore not a single. Richard Rogers

Dear Richard Thanks so much for your kind words and your precious suggestions. "BROTHERS" is a song that has a spooky and sad real story behind it and therefore it has been not easy to combine these two things in a regular single with a decent hook line because we were emotionally involved during the production. The Song is now included in our new album BECOMING that we made in Vynil version only. On stage, it is even longer with an extended and psychedelic outro. Check it out at one of our future concerts. Thank you again. Cheers. Giorgio

Next up is "Angeschebant Enteschebant" from Easychris Music. You'll find this on the M2D site under Easychris Music. Or Chris's link further up this page. First of all Chris who is a German songwriter says ''"Angeschebant Enteschebant" is a German comedy song with a dance groove.'' Two problems with this statement is that firstly and unfortunately the German comedy value is going to fly over my head as an Englishman here as I have no understanding of exactly what comedic value is being put over in the song. I can speak some German but sadly just don't get the comedy here. Secondly Chris describes this as a dance groove. In reality it couldn't be much further away from a dance groove if it tried. It is more on the rock genre. Still an important lesson to be had here. When commenting on your music always give as close a comparison on the song as you possibly can. This can be extremely beneficial for the A&R Man. Chris says that he also rerecorded the lead vocals to the track but i have to say that this new lead vocal recording is quite abysmal. I have no idea where these are being recorded and rerecorded but have to say they are poor. Let me know please as this makes the song sound sub standard. As a song the track is actually OK although I don't get the humour as aforementioned. The hookline is fairly decent and catchy. The musical parts are good and there is a well executed uplift on the titles hook. It is written well but sadly the vocal recording (not the actual vocals) bring this song down quite a bit. The guitar parts are neat and well put together and there is an intriguing piece of jazzy piano toward the climax that I liked and added some variation. It isn't a bad song and appears quite cheerful but the vocal recording needs another recording as this isn't good enough. Richard Rogers

Hey Richard, many thanks for the feedback! Interesting that you find this song does not have a dance groove. I recorded the vocals with Shure SM57/58 over an audio interface (Native Instruments Komplete Audio 6, older model) and Cubase. I am working on an englisch version of the song. In doing so I will rerecord the vocals again. Cheers Christoph
