Diana Hopeson’s (aka Diana Akiwumi) professional musical career started immediately after school. She went straight into professional singing after leaving college and now has 11 albums and 2 EPS. Diana’s debut He Is Lord was in 1991.
She followed it up with Ye Yi W’aye Daa in 1993 which included titles like Winner, Gyina Pintin, Onyame Ye Odumfo which became an instant Hit album. It won the Best Gospel Music award from ECRAG in Ghana that year. She also received a fax message of recommendation from the Billy Graham Evangelistic association for that same album being one of the best from Africa. Diana’s hits include Agyenkwa Hene, Koso Aba, Send Your Fire, and Fire Burning In My Soul.
Diana remains one of Ghana’s most powerful female stage performers and is in no doubt loved by her audience wherever she performs. She is not only an artist, and lead singer of her band, Diana is a Board Member of the Ghana Music Rights Owners Society of Ghana (GHAMRO) and has been instrumental in making policies for the Creative Industry especially Music and have served on other National Boards and Committees including the National Theatre, and the National Intellectual Property Policy Committee.
Diana Hopeson is a former President of the Musicians Union of Ghana, (MUSIGA) and currently the Deputy Director of the Center for Peace and Reconciliation (CPR). She is the founder and CEO of GHMusic Publishing and Management, the premier music publishing company in Ghana. She is also the longest serving Board Member of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. Though she focused on music administration from 2007 when she became the Union President, she bounced back to recording and performing again in 2016 and has not stopped releasing and performing with her band since then.
In 2020, Diana celebrated her Golden Jubilee with the Hope Volume 1 album and free Monthly online Seminars for the music industry in Ghana. In 2021, her focus was on the Northern Region of Ghana. She recorded in dialects from the Northern Region which attests her talent in languages. She released Mama’s song on Mother’s Day in 2022 and is poised to release Hope Volume 2 on 17th July 2022.

"Great rhythm and energy which had me moving in the office. I don't understand the lyrics but I still really enjoyed the song."
