Growing up in the greater Boston area, Phillip Gerard was deeply influenced by legendary local rock bands. He began performing at a young age, playing in Boston’s clubs and bars well before he was old enough to drink in them. His early years were spent writing and composing with local musicians, including bands with his talented brothers. He was part of an early version of The Dream, a band that later evolved into Extreme, having sung in the choir with their eventual frontman. In addition, Phillip explored progressive rock and jazz-rock, writing and performing throughout the local circuit. Seeking new experiences, he moved to Los Angeles, where he expanded his musical repertoire, joining heavy metal/hair bands as well as classic country and western projects. Upon returning to New England, he developed a deep appreciation for the blues, inspired by Stevie Ray Vaughan—his rendition of Pride and Joy remains a personal favorite. Reuniting with musicians from his youth, he performed actively in the club scene with several projects. Alongside his music career, Phillip developed a passion for business and finance, leading to a successful career as an executive in sales, marketing, and operations. He became an equity partner in multiple companies, helping build and successfully sell them. In this role, he learned how to mentor, lead, and manage talent—helping people reach their highest potential. His expertise in business planning, marketing, promotion, merchandising, and contract negotiations now plays a vital role in his work with musicians. His musical and business journey has taken him across four continents, performing in diverse settings and genres. More recently, he joined a touring cover project, playing in major music hubs like San Francisco, New York, and Nashville. Now based in Charleston, SC, Phillip continues to write, compose, and perform, remaining an active force in the local music scene. His passion for music, storytelling, and mentorship keeps him at the forefront of artist development, helping the next generation of musicians find their sound and their stage.
