My preferred arrangement is straightforward: I provide the song and demo; the artist creates and finances their own recording, owns their finished master, and handles distribution, promotion, and marketing. I retain my agreed songwriter/lyricist credit, composition ownership, publishing, and associated royalties. I am not looking to hire session vocalists, finance another artist’s release, or surrender 50% of an existing song simply because someone records the vocal.
