Scott soon gained the attention of Johnny Rivers' publishing company, where he developed before meeting singer/songwriter Alan O'Day, who encouraged Scott to move to Los Angeles from San Diego State, where he'd been attending film school. Scott would write for music publishers Edwin H. Morris & Chappell Music, having had songs recorded by The Righteous Brothers and Crystal Gayle before the age of 24. Scott would then collaborate with hit songwriter Sharon Sheely through 1981. As a session vocalist, guitarist and pianist, Scott has performed live or in studio with notables as, Spencer Davis, Doug Aldrich, John Jorgenson, Ray Manzarek, Gregg Giuffria, and bands including Lion, Fiona, Nelson, Tierra, Squad Five-O, and music projects including TV's "The Simpsons" In the early 90's, Scott's career turned to composing for film, beginning with Michael Madsen's "Inside Edge", which included producing A&M artists Rosie Vela (previously produced by Steely Dan producer, Gary Katz), Los Angeles radio personalities Mark & Brian, and composing/conducting for stage productions at The Comedy Store, The Hollywood Playhouse, The LA Cabaret, as well as Hollywood award shows. From 1993, Scott worked concurrently as a union art director, construction coordinator, and licensed special effects pyrotechnics operator for the Hollywood studios until a work-related accident resulted in a spinal fracture, and near loss of his legs while working on the HBO series "Deadwood" in 2005. Following multiple multi-level spinal fusion surgeries, he recovered the majority of strength in his legs in 2009, and continues to act, as well as compose and produce orchestral compositions and arrangements for documentary film, heading Soul Ambition Music (ASCAP), in Los Angeles, California.
