Eric Zay Born, Eric Zay Brown, April 26th in Bronx, New York. Moved to Tokyo, Japan at a very young age. He pick up his first pair of drumsticks at the age 9 and goes to graduate with a degree in songwriting from Berklee College of Music in Boston in 1991. After returning from college, he soon started playing live and recordings right away with local acts and artists and also releasing his first solo album Share the Light in 1993 Vivid Sound. He started playing with his dad, Casey Rankin, a very well known rock and roller since the 70s and very famous for his TV and feature film soundtrack hits with SHOGUN as well as his solo productions. Eric joined spAed in 1994, amongst Yamashita Masayoshi from Loudness on bass, 広瀬さとし Hirose 'Jimmy' Satoshi from 44MAGNUM on guitar and Katayama Keiji from BLUE on vocals. SpAed disbanded soon after their release of their third album 'Physique' in 1997. He joined Shogun in releasing the NEW ALBUM and a brief live tour between 1997-1998. He released another solo album INERTIA in 1998. He then joined HAL FROM APOLLO '69 along with Hal on vocals, Zoë on guitar, Ali Morizumi from Monoral on bass. He has been a of an acoustic duo with Charlie Tanaka called CHABUDAI, whom he met on the second year of the Sugizo. He toured and recorded with ’Sugizo and the Spank Your Juice’ on drums and lyric collaborations from 2000-2004'. Sugizo, well known with his band 'LUNA SEA’ and 'X JAPAN’. Bloom UnderGrounds another project he started in 2000, a psychedelic rock trio this time as the frontman on guitar and vocals along with Ali on bass and Masahito Saito on drums Nino Minoru on resonance and VJ Yabuki on lighting and visuals. Released their first album, Not Afraid, in 2009 and an official live album 'ALIVE 2006' in 2019. He also toured and recorded with Monoral on drums and guitars from 2000-2006. Toured and recorded with 'FAKE?’ on guitar 2006-2008 along with Ken Lloyd also known from 'Oblivion Dust’. Eric has always been writing and producing for new and established artists, TV campaigns for most of the well known company, corporations (SONY, McDonald's, NISSAN, TOYOTA, MITSUBISHI, Tokyu Agency, KEWPIE, JT, NTT etc.) since his college days to present and as the ceo of Commercial Arts/Pure Records KK, he also writes music for featured films such as Golgo13 ’Turquoise Blue' along with Yoshino Fujimaru, recorded and released the opening and the ending themes 'Black Jack' and 'Moon Shadow' for Tezuka Osamu’s Black Jack performed by The Orange Vox (Miyahara Manabu) on guitar and vocals, Ali on bass and Eric on drums. English versions of the Dragon Ball Z soundtrack album. He is currently writing and producing with his new band 'IMOCD!’ formed in 2018 along with Ali Morizumi on guitar and vocals, Akira Yasue on guitar and vocals, Rikiji Masuda on bass and vocals, Eric Zay on drums and vocals. Releases their first album Under the Moon, Over the Cloud 2020.
