Personal profile

Alan Cross is an internationally known broadcaster, interviewer, writer, consultant, blogger, public speaker, and consultant who has been part of Canadian radio for over 41 years. He is recognized as one of music’s best-connected storytellers, thanks to his ability to discover facts that no one else seems to have. As well as hosting the radio documentary The Ongoing History of New Music since 1993, Alan’s resume includes five books, a national music column for Global News (Canada), voicework for film, television, documentary films, corporate videos, and other programming. He’s also created content for various film and TV studios, record labels, artist management companies, and streaming music services. He was also behind a travelling science museum exhibit called The Science of Rock’n’Roll. His podcasts have been downloaded nearly 20 million times. His consulting jobs have ranged from helping music organizations, WIDEX (a leading international hearing aid company for whom he serves as a band ambassador), a headphone manufacturer, Porsche Canada (another brand ambassador), Locomobi (a transportation tech company), Musora (online music lessons), and many others. Alan is also a former program director for 102.1 The Edge/Toronto, a station with revenues of $20 million. In addition to formulating programing, promotion, intense formal strategic planning, and marketing for the station itself, he supervised a staff of 20.
