K1 are three artists, producers, composers, songwriters & remixers who initiated and developed the “dance” scene in Romania starting from 1996, when few people thought that the base of Romanian music industry was created. They are not known only as artists, but as founders and influence persons of Romanian music industry. Their continuous aim is to search and adapt the Romanian music to important music trends of the world, keeping at high levels the right values of both cultural roots. A relevant example consist in adaptation of traditional Romanian dances (Ex.: Calusul, Hora, Geamparaua) and “the move” of those dances in clubs and discos from Romania (… and not only from Romania). This thing was possible through creation, implementation and development of Romanian “dance” & “etno-dance” artists: K1, Ro-Mania, Etno, Ho-Ra and D’Or. Through creation and development of “etno-dance” side of a well-known and well-appreciated Romanian folclorical artist, Benone Sinulescu. Through releases of three series of music compilations (Techno Dance Party – Made in Romania” which was the first Romanian “dance” compilation made ever – 5 volumes, “Romanian Dance Revolution” – 3 volumes & “Cadoul Visat” – 3 volumes) on which appear many famous and newcomer Romanian artists from different generations and different musical genres. [Not to mention that Ruslana (Eurovision’s contest winner in 2004) came from the same geographical region (Ukraine is situated close to Romania) and her album is a follow-up of Romanian music industry moves through this nine years] “Etno-dance”, respectively “Etno-techno-legend” are the fruit of K1 creation. The peak of the Romanian “dance” revolution was the strike and the scandal generated in 1998 when the Romanian flagship “dance” artists (K1, Ro-Mania, Genius and 3rei Sud Est) won (media & public votes being overwhelming) all the awards in the “Hit-songs” section of the national music contest “Mamaia” (the most important music contest in Romania, at that moment) Right now, K1 are involved in many aspects of Romanian music industry working with their artists and with other big names of Romanian music industry.
