Personal profile
Some say that Kwaito Music is dead, but Mawiza Dmosh full name Mokone Wally Molete (29) believes he can resuscitate the dying genre through fusing the old-school Mzansi sound with modern sounds, house, Amapiano, Hip-Hop, Trap, and Soul. His latest Ep with singles such as Proudly nfana kasi, SamSokolo, kwaito revival and I'm in love are well on their way to being club anthems. Signed under First Bite Entertainment, Mawiza says all his songs tell the stories of those living in the township. “My music transcends racial lines Whether you are rich or poor; the music still gives you a pleasant experience of the township,” he says. The upcoming musician’s passion for music has seen him perform in nightclubs and festivals across the country. His birthplace of Kutloanong under the Matjhabeng Municipality is proud to call him one of their own. Mawiza is inspired by old school musicians Brown Dash, Zola, Kabelo and young artists like Cassper Nyovest, AKA, Riky Rick and Nasty C. “All those artists have taken a small concept and idea and have traveled the world. They are dedicated and committed to making people dance and learn,” he says.
