Perfil pessoal
I’m Alden Gilbert, an independent Nashville songwriter and spoken word artist, pathing the way for future recording poets. Majoring in music composition and business among other things, I plan to emerge from Dark Horse Institute and Recording with the tools necessary to make the changes I dream of seeing in the music industry, as well as accomplishing all of my artistic goals. Though a natural creative, I imagine building a career on the business side of the industry. After signing a new distribution deal with Allen Johnston (more commonly known as “The Music Specialist'') and giving my music the opportunity to be heard worldwide, I decided to take my resources, business-related interests, and artistic passions another step further. I am now working up to eight hours a day setting up my label, Alden Gilbert Music. Under this entity, I plan to release not only my music but sign a select group of artists and close collaborators, issuing deals on a project-by-project basis. Still invested in spoken word, however, I often wonder what life as a full-time artist would look like; taking my poetry and tapping into a variety of different musical genres, forcing two-dimensional art into headphones. Borrowing unique lyrical devices from all of my favorite artists in hopes of making my emotions more tangible to others, I typically focus on darker lyrics that I accompany with light beats and instrumentals, as well as unconsidered sound effects. All of these elements combine to give my music this heavily unique and borderline interactive feel that I plan on using to the advantage of changing times. My goal now is to continue to collaborate with other artists and producers to better define my idea of spoken word in the music industry and build my network.
