Owner of a warm and intimate voice, João da Ilha (that stands for Island John) is a singer-songwriter native from Terceira Island - Azores and settled in Setubal – Portugal mainland, where he honed his skills of songwriting, arranging, performance and knowledge of the music business. The debut album "Amanhecer " (2011) arose following the EP "Pulsação" (2009) as a natural progression of a musical idea that is stated in a unique style, that crosses traditional music especially rooted in Azores with contemporary currents of popular music, ranging from pop to jazz, to world music… it’s Atlantic’s soundscapes! The album was produced and recorded in 2011 at Studio BBS (Alentejo, Portugal) by Carlos Barreto Xavier, producer of Portuguese guitar master Antonio Chainho’s "LisGoa" (2010), among others.
