Born in Bologna and raised in Filo d'Argenta (Ferrara), in the first half of the seventies he was part of the "Le Ombre" band. He made his debut as a soloist with two singles recorded for Baby Records, of which he was the "leading" singer together with Pupo; in the same years he collaborated, as an author, with Pupo and other artists, writing among the many "Su di noi" for the Tuscan singer-songwriter and "Ti desidero" for the Armonium, a song with which the Roman group participates in the Sanremo Festival 1980. It was one of the revelations of the 1981 Sanremo Festival with the song "Hop hop somarello", which he composed together with Enzo Ghinazzi (Pupo) and Gian Piero Reverberi.
