Personal profile
I'm Rogelio Alsina, a Cuban-born writer and songwriter based in London. I have been writing songs since the late 1990s, when I began composing for a Cuban music group in London, and I now run my own independent label, Maroya Studios. My work is lyric-led: singer-songwriter material, guajira and nueva trova, popular humour, and musical settings of Cuban poetry, from José Martí to Félix Luis Viera. I also write literary fiction in Spanish. I'm looking for contacts in sync licensing, publishing, distribution, and commissions for Spanish-language songwriting and lyric adaptation.
Company profile
Maroya Studios is an independent record label based in the UK, dedicated to Spanish-language music for Hispanic and Latin American audiences. Its catalogue combines original songwriting and lyrics with AI-assisted production, released through a roster of virtual artists who are openly presented as such. They include Sindo Bruma (guajira and nueva trova, album Amores Tercos), Naia Montes, the reggaetón trio Chalale, and the comedy group Los Choteones. The label is also developing Alma Cubana, a cycle of Cuban poems set to music, including "Dos Patrias", based on the poem by José Martí. Maroya Studios is seeking partners for sync licensing, publishing, distribution and promotion in Spanish-speaking markets, and offers songwriting and lyric adaptation services.
