Personal profile
Jevan Cole has performed in several seminal Australian folk / roots groups since the early 1990s. As well as his solo fingerstyle project, Cole has worked as a songwriter and guitarist for bands such as 'One Straw', "The Charlie Moorland Trio', 'Cole, Kirkpatrick and Van Dijk' and 'Ragged', with whom he has performed at most of the major Folk Festivals across Australia whilst releasing 10 CDs of critically acclaimed "Art Folk" music. 'Cole and Van Dijk’s' 2nd CD "Sins of a Little Later Kiss" received glowing reviews from the worldwide folk/roots media. The pair toured the east coast of Canada in early 2013 bookmarked by the International Folk Alliance Convention and the East Coast Music Awards. Back home in Australia, they closed Woodford Folk Festival for two years running (2012, 2013) as part of the "Atlantica Pacifica” showcase concert. In 2013 they were featured artists for Woodford's iconic fire event and Cole had two tracks nominated for the Queensland Music Awards. Since 2013, Jevan has been recording ambient, cinematic pieces in his studio in the quiet hinterland village of Witta under the new monika, ‘Meadow Argus’
Company profile
Combining the rhythmic clunk of English Morris dance with the spaced-out whimsy of rural psychedelia, Meadow Argus’ extended instrumental pieces, occasionally punctuated by brief lyrical interludes, come infused with a creeping unease reminiscent of pre-industrial mythic folk-lore. Meadow Argus launches into deep space on a seething bed of tape delays, ebows, synths and found sounds.
