Born in Trinidad, raised in Washington DC, Markus was taught at an early age to stand out at anything that crossed his path. So he went to study Fine Arts at Berkeley, majoring in architecture. And, along the way, excelling in music (violoncello, guitar, vocals) and painting. MM: “I have an immense gratitude for the education I had, and the range of possibilities this has given me.”
Markus earned his living, working as a (sous)chef in various restaurants. And, playing music. Any time, any place. MM: “The ultimate experience of Love: 1: making love, 2: cooking and enjoying great food 3: Music. Preferably all three at once.”
Markus built a successful architecture company. But his real passion remained with music. Writing his own material, and sharing the stages with top artists, Markus decided to sell the company and live his own dream. MM: “If earning (big) money means an unsatisfactory life, money will become a burden. If you are living your dream and passion, money will always be sufficient.”
Having a keen eye for opportunities, Markus saw fertile ground for his music in Europe. Which lead him to Lille, France. Markus was moved by the rate of negative mass demonstrations, which made him to set up “Le Manifestation Positif”. Joined by 30.000 people, scanding positive thoughts, Markus hit the headlines In France. His music never made it to the conservative French charts, though.
After three years exploring stages and meeting a large variety of musicians in France, Switzerland, UK, Belgium and Germany, Markus landed in Holland. MM: “Holland is like a warm blanket to me. An astounding breeding nest of musical talent and culture. Which makes it an incredible challenge for me to start the next move in my life.”
Recording with international artists, starting negotiations with BMG Talpa getting into scope of TV directors and commencing the Happiness Happens Tour, the music of Markus Mann is ready to take over Europe. MM: “I want my music to make people realize happiness is not some kind of coincidence. You have to make happiness happen.”
